A young man who tried to open an ATM with a stone was detained in Tashkent, the press service of the Department of Internal Affairs reports.
The incident occurred around 02:30 in the Chilanzar district. The suspect looked around, made sure there was no one nearby, picked up a stone from the ground, and smashed the ATM, striking the device’s body. Despite efforts, the young man couldn’t open the safe and fled the crime scene. It is reported that more than 500 million soums were in the ATM.
The material damage caused to the equipment amounted to 30 million soums. The young man stated that he had previously borrowed money for trading, but had lost it. Having accumulated a large amount of debt, he decided to commit a crime. A criminal case has been initiated under Article 169, Part 4, Clause “a” (Theft on an especially large scale). The suspect has been detained and an investigation is underway.
