In Tashkent, a man was detained for receiving $4,000 from a citizen and returning counterfeit dollars instead, the State Security Service press service reported.
The incident occurred in the Yangihayot district. A previously convicted citizen won the trust of his acquaintance and received $4,000 from him for the delivery of 4 tons of tomatoes, spent this money on his own needs, and then transferred a counterfeit $4,000 in $100 bills.
A criminal case has been initiated under Articles 168 (Fraud) and 176 (Preparation and circulation of counterfeit money, excise stamps, or securities) of the Criminal Code. Investigative actions are underway.
Recall that in Syrdarya, a man paid for livestock with counterfeit dollars. Law enforcement officers caught the fraudster during the transaction.
