In Tashkent, a former serviceman was arrested for domestic violence, Kun reports.
According to the court verdict, the man, born in 1984, served in the military and retired. In 2008, he got married. On the evening of July 26, 2025, a man locked his wife in a damp basement without food or water to attend his relatives’ wedding in Samarkand. In addition, the accused also brutally beat the woman.
The former serviceman admitted his guilt in court and explained that he did this because his wife tried to go to the wedding without listening to him.
For 5-6 years, we have often quarreled for various reasons. In mid-July 2025, she said that her brother was holding a wedding and we needed to go. I replied that I had no money, as I needed a wedding gift and other expenses for the trip, and I said we wouldn’t go. However, on July 26, 2025, she left the house without my knowledge. I caught up with her at the stop of cars heading to the Samarkand region and brought her back. So that she wouldn’t run away again, I locked her in the basement of an apartment building for one day. Indeed, during this time, I gave her neither water nor food. The next day, he himself took her out of the basement and led her into the apartment, — the man stated in court.
The victim stated in court that she has four children, and her husband accuses her of family difficulties and regularly beats her.
At the end of July 2025, my brother arranged his daughter’s wedding. The husband said he wouldn’t go to the wedding because there was no money. I explained that no money was required as a gift, the wedding was taking place at my brother’s house, and I was obligated to go. After that, he beat me and locked me in the basement. Because the basement was dark, I was very scared, thinking there might be insects or rats there. The next day, he opened the basement, took me home, and forced me to write a divorce application. I don’t know what he did with this statement, — the woman said.
The man was found guilty under Article 138, Part 2, Clauses “a, b” (Unlawful deprivation of liberty with the use of violence, infliction of physical suffering, and confinement in conditions dangerous to life or health), as well as Article 126-1, Part 3, (Family (domestic) violence) of the Criminal Code. He was sentenced to 3 years and a month of imprisonment in a settlement colony.
Recall that a resident of the Andijan region beat his wife and caused her to commit suicide. The man locked the 21-year-old girl in a shed, later she was found in the noose.
