On December 15, the head of the Presidential Administration, Saida Mirziyoyeva, discussed with responsible officials pressing issues of ensuring the protection of women’s and children’s rights.

The meeting also addressed issues of countering violence against women and children, eliminating its causes, and measures to prevent early pregnancy. Saida Mirziyoyeva proposed creating an effective system for prompt response to violence.

We are the first country in Central Asia to adopt a law against domestic violence. The responsibility for sexual crimes against children has been strengthened. But we cannot stop. Often, the real picture is not visible, much is hidden. We are still afraid of statistics, afraid of penalties, afraid of looking bad in the eyes of others, and unacceptable criticism, — the statement said.

Mirziyoyeva noted that the uncompromising fight against all forms of violence, the effective protection of the rights and interests of women and children should not be carried out in words, but in deeds.

I urge all responsible managers to draw conclusions from today’s conversation. Human fate is much more important than statistics, — she said.

As a reminder, Saida Mirziyoyeva spoke at the “Women’s Role in Modern Society” conference in Avaza. The head of the Presidential Administration spoke about the steps being taken in Uzbekistan to expand women’s opportunities in education, entrepreneurship, and protect their rights.
