In Jizzakh, a woman strangled a drunken husband on his birthday
The accused said that the man had mocked her, for which she wanted to commit suicide, but she felt sorry for the children.
A woman strangled her drunk husband after a conflict in the Jizzakh region, the Supreme Court’s press service reported.
According to the department, the incident occurred on the man’s birthday. Guests gathered in the house, after which the drunk husband quarreled with his wife. After the guests left and the man fell asleep, the accused took a handkerchief, tied the man up, and strangled him with a pillow.
The woman took her husband’s body outside, put him in a Nexia-2 car, and set it on fire along with the car. In court, the accused admitted her guilt and said that she could not bear the harassment from her husband. It turned out that there were constant conflicts in the family.
I don’t want to justify myself, but I didn’t do this for nothing. He mocked me. I wanted to kill myself, but I felt sorry for my children, because they are attached to me. I’ve been living with this man for 8 years and haven’t had a single day when I was happy. I ask you to entrust my children to my parents. I am sure that my children will not refuse me. I apologize to everyone, — said the accused.
The court found the woman guilty. She was sentenced to 13 years and a month of imprisonment in a general regime colony.
Recall that in Uzbekistan, more than ten thousand citizens were convicted of domestic violence. The Supreme Court has shown results since the beginning of 2025.
