In Andijan region, a deputy governor was caught taking a bribe

The deputy khokim of the district promised the entrepreneur a plot of land for 15 thousand dollars.

In the Andijan region, a deputy khokim of the Markhamat district was detained while receiving a bribe, the press service of the State Security Service reports.

According to the information, the official promised the businessman to close 400 m of the drainage canal along the road and process the resulting 60 sotix plot for the construction of eight shops. For his assistance, he asked for 15 thousand dollars. First, he was given an advance of $200, then he came for the remaining amount.

Law enforcement officers apprehended the deputy governor while receiving $14,800. A criminal case has been initiated under Article 168, Part 3, Clauses “a, c”, and Article 211, Part 2, Clause “b” of the Criminal Code (bribery). The deputy governor has been arrested and an investigation is underway.

Earlier, it was reported that Uzbekistan’s government agencies would be taught to be intolerant of corruption. The President has adopted a resolution to strengthen anti-corruption departments in agencies with 50% state ownership.
