During raids in Uzbekistan, dozens of citizens were detained for illegal gold mining

The preliminary damage to the state is estimated at 20 billion soums.

In Uzbekistan, law enforcement officers conducted raids to identify cases of illegal gold mining and detained dozens of citizens for violations, UzA reports.

According to the information, law enforcement officers conducted operational activities at several facilities located in the Bukhara and Navoi regions. In particular, during an inspection of the territories belonging to the “Oltin Kon” company, law enforcement officers detained 37 citizens in the “Kuljuktov” mountainous area located in the Shofirkan district.

It is noted that law enforcement officers detained the suspects on the spot while carrying out illegal work. Also, during the search, law enforcement officers seized 3 Ford vehicles, 8 perforators, 6 compressors, about 400 bags of gold ore, as well as various handmade tools.

According to preliminary information, the suspects caused damage to the state in the amount of more than 20 billion soums. Currently, law enforcement officers are conducting investigative actions.

Earlier, it was reported that two men died in Samarkand while illegally extracting gold. Three more searchers ended up in the hospital.
