“Don’t contradict your husband when he’s angry”: Millar found justification for domestic violence in its reports

The journalist accused the victims of the material about two brutal murders of women.

On November 20, a report from the Millar program circulated on social media, in which a journalist urged women not to contradict their husbands in the news where a man had slaughtered his wife for an unprepared lunch. Responsible authorities have not yet issued a statement on the incident.

In the video, the journalist stated that he does not justify the man’s actions, but advised women “not to contradict their husband when he is angry, so that they can live a long life with him”. According to lawyer and gender expert Kamola Aliyeva, the broadcast effectively justified the brutal murder of a woman.

Why does the TV channel justify violence? Why is this being broadcast? What is your goal? To poison women’s minds with the thought that “so that your husband doesn’t kill you, you must remain silent and live quietly below water, below grass?” Or instill in young men: “if your wife makes you angry, you can kill her — society will still justify you?” — she said.

Suspicious statements from Millar were also noticed in the report about the murder of a woman in Tashkent region. Then the man stabbed his wife in the night — he had a cold weapon under his pillow and couldn’t contain himself after the conflict.

The journalist concluded this report with the phrase: “One betrayal caused the destruction of a beautiful family. The woman paid with her life for her thoughtless act”. Notably, the video was also published by the Supreme Court’s press service. Responsible authorities and the Milliy TV channel have not yet commented on the incident.

Earlier, it was reported that a man in Surkhandarya had slaughtered his wife for not preparing lunch. The woman suffered from a chronic kidney disease and had a group I disability.

It’s also worth noting that bloggers in Tashkent were imprisoned for videos promoting violence against women. They apologized for their actions, but they were still arrested.
