19 citizens who were held in slavery in greenhouses were returned to Uzbekistan from Ukraine, Dunyo reports.
The Embassy of Uzbekistan organized a wide range of measures in the shortest possible time to protect the rights and interests of citizens, restore their legal rights, and resolve documentary and organizational issues for safe departure from Ukraine.
As a result of the negotiations, all 19 citizens were officially granted the status of victims, completely excluding any sanctions against them under Ukrainian law. With the direct financing of the IOM offices in Ukraine and Moldova, Uzbek citizens arrived by road from Kyiv to Kishinyov on October 28.
During his stay in the capital of Moldova, safe accommodation, food, and necessary support were provided. On November 2, all 19 of our compatriots, accompanied by IOM representatives, departed via the Kishinyov-Istanbul-Urgench air route and arrived safely in Uzbekistan on November 3.
Information about compatriots who were held in slavery appeared in Ukrainian media on September 18. The situation was immediately taken under strict diplomatic control. Later, the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Ukraine commented on the incident involving the captivity of Uzbek citizens in the Kyiv region.
The diplomatic mission stated that the compatriots are alive and in a satisfactory condition. They were taken to one of the local hospitals in the Kyiv region for necessary medical procedures.
