Uzbekistanis will face new rules for crossing the borders of EU countries
Electronic systems will replace stamps in passports.

Starting October 12, a unified EES entry-exit system for registering foreigners will be launched in the European Union, according to the press service of the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Hungary.
The system will take into account trips on short-term visas and visa-free trips for up to 90 days. The launch of the system in 29 EU countries will be organized in stages within six months.
To register in the EES, foreigners must provide biometric data. In the case of visa-free trips, it is required to take a photo and provide fingerprints, and visa holders must only take a photo.
The EES registration procedure will gradually replace the border control stamps in passports. The system should accelerate border crossing in the EU, as well as provide law enforcement agencies with information about incoming foreigners and help prevent illegal migration.
Only foreigners with biometric passports can use EES. At the same time, holders of ordinary passports will be able to pass through passport control in the traditional way.
The following will not be registered in the EES:
- holders of residence permits in EU countries;
- holders of long-term visas of EU countries;
- close relatives of citizens of EU countries who have a resident card;
- persons arriving for the purpose of studying, researching, volunteering, student exchange, internal transfer, and within the framework of educational projects.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan called on citizens planning to travel to EU countries to carefully familiarize themselves with the new rules.
