The young man was sentenced under the article on the rehabilitation of Nazism.

In Russia, a verdict was issued against an Uzbek citizen who desecrated the Eternal Flame by smoking a cigarette from it, RIA Novosti reports, citing the press service of the courts of Sredneuralsk.
According to the information, the incident occurred on June 28. A 19-year-old Uzbek citizen ascended the platform of the Memorial Complex dedicated to the victims of the Great Patriotic War and lit a cigarette from the Eternal Flame in front of witnesses. Thus, the young man publicly insulted the sacred symbol.
The Uzbek himself admitted his guilt in court. The Sverdlovsk Regional Court found the young man guilty under Article 354.1 (Rehabilitation of Nazism by desecrating the symbols of military glory of Russia, insulting the memory of defenders of the Motherland, or humiliating the honor and dignity of a WWII veteran, committed in public) and sentenced him to 320 hours of compulsory labor.
