The MFA of Uzbekistan discussed the prevention of violations of the rights of Uzbek citizens during raids conducted in Russia

Labor migration issues were also discussed during the meeting.

Uzbekistan’s Deputy Foreign Minister, Olimjon Abdullayev, met with Russian Ambassador Alexei Yerkhov, the Ministry’s press service reports.

According to the information, the parties discussed issues of streamlining the labor migration of Uzbek citizens to Russia. An exchange of views also took place on the resumption of the “pilot project”, including the transfer of migration procedures to the country, medical examination, taking the Russian language exam at the branches of Russian universities in Tashkent and Jizzakh, opening centers for studying the language, history, and legislation of the Russian Federation, and attracting Russian teachers and industrial training masters to train personnel in the vocational education system in Uzbekistan.

Special attention was paid to preventing any manifestations of infringement or violation of the rights of Uzbek citizens, both violators and law-abiding ones, during migration raids. The parties agreed to hold regular meetings of the established working group to promptly address emerging challenges in streamlining migration flows.

Earlier, it was reported that it would be easier for Uzbeks to work in Turkey. The parties will establish a fight against illegal migration, and the introduction of electronic visas and the possibility of changing status without leaving the country is expected.
