The internet has returned to Afghanistan

The Taliban denied any involvement in the intentional disconnection.

Afghanistan has partially restored its internet connection, according to the NetBlocks international internet monitoring service.

Operational network data shows that the internet connection in Afghanistan has been partially restored. Earlier, the internet was lost throughout the country. Afghan media noted that the Taliban had ordered to ban the use of wired internet in several regions to “prevent immorality”.

The Taliban themselves denied the accusations of deliberately shutting off the internet in Afghanistan. They linked the network problems to the fact that old fiber optic cables are being used in the country and need to be replaced.
