The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan denied the information that the country is supposedly conducting negotiations with the CSTO to protect its borders with Afghanistan.

The department called this information false and untrue. It is noted that the dissemination of such reports misleads the international community. Experts assured that the country is taking the necessary measures independently to reliably strengthen its state border.

The situation at the state border remains stable and is under the full control of the competent authorities of the Republic of Tajikistan, — the statement said.

Earlier, Reuters reported that Tajikistan is discussing the possibility of involving Russian troops in joint border patrol with Afghanistan after a series of shootings. According to the agency, five Chinese citizens have been killed and five injured in recent weeks as a result of shelling from Afghanistan. In December, due to the escalation of the situation, Tajik President Emomali Rahmon held a working meeting with the heads of law enforcement agencies.
