Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova commented on TV host Vladimir Solovyov’s statements about Central Asian countries and Armenia.
According to Zaxarova, this is the journalist’s private opinion expressed on the non-governmental television channel “Solovyov Life”. At the same time, the statement was made in the form of a question, not a statement, and cannot be considered a statement or position of the Russian authorities.
These phrases were clearly and absolutely obviously presented in provocative form by so-called couch analysts, almost like Russia’s official position. Engaging in such manipulations is unacceptable. Moreover, some commentators took advantage of the situation to release a whole series of speculations and open speculations into the information space, which were not heard in this program or in others, including claims about allegedly existing aggressive aspirations of Russia towards post-Soviet states, — Zakharova said.
The Foreign Minister also reminded that the official position of the Russian Federation is voiced exclusively by authorized officials. It is repeatedly and consistently formulated by the President, the Prime Minister, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Minister of Defense, and other heads of agencies during summits, negotiations, consultations, press conferences, and interviews.
Zakharova noted that Russia is consistently building relations with the states of the South Caucasus and Central Asia on the basis of good neighborliness, strategic partnership, alliance, and mutual respect. Regular dialogue within the framework of the CIS and CSTO is maintained, including meetings of Security Council Secretaries, where regional security issues are discussed.
One must judge by the deeds — how many times a hand of help and friendship was extended, how many times sincere empathy and sympathy were shown, how many times joy was shared, how many times victories were experienced together, how many times a joint search for a way out of the most difficult, seemingly deadlocked situations was made, how many times misunderstandings were overcome and challenges and provocations were responded to. That’s what we need to focus on. And never focus on provocations. Unfortunately, there will be quite a few. Therefore, it is important to see the reality, and not buy fake news, — she said.
