In Russia, the rules for issuing MHI policies to migrant workers have been tightened
Free medical care will be available only after five years of legal work - instead of the previous three.

Vladimir Putin signed a law that changes the rules for obtaining a compulsory health insurance policy for labor migrants, Interfax reports.
According to the document, only foreign citizens who have legally worked in Russia and accumulated at least five years of insurance experience will now be able to obtain a CSHI policy. Previously, three years were required. The new rules do not apply to highly qualified specialists.
State Duma Chairman Vyacheslav Volodin explained that migrants will only be able to receive free medical care in Russia after five years of official work. Only emergencies, when assistance is provided regardless of the length of service, will remain an exception.
The law was adopted as part of the package of budget-forming initiatives.
Earlier, it was reported that Moscow would increase the price of patents for labor migrants in 2026. The authorities explained the price increase by the increase in the average salary for professions in demand among foreigners.
