In Russia, local residents assaulted migrants from Uzbekistan
Diplomats sent notes demanding action on the issue.

In Russia, a group of young local residents beat and insulted labor migrants from Uzbekistan. The country’s Foreign Ministry press service commented on the incident.
The incident occurred on September 13 in Vladivostok. The victims appealed to the country’s consulate, however, according to them, the consulate staff did not provide any assistance and limited themselves to advice to contact law enforcement agencies. Uzbeks said they were afraid to file a complaint with local law enforcement agencies.
Later, the former deputy of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis and blogger Rasul Kusherbayev became interested in the situation. The advisor to the Minister of Ecology appealed to the responsible officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan and other authorized bodies with a request to take legal measures regarding this incident.
Following this, the department also responded, stating that specialists had contacted the affected citizens and provided the necessary legal assistance. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also reported that the compatriots filed a complaint with the Vladivostok Department of Internal Affairs, and the diplomats sent a note to the Russian Foreign Ministry’s representative office in Vladivostok, as well as to the Prosecutor’s Office of the Primorsky Krai, and called for all necessary measures to be taken regarding this fact.
Experts also noted that the situation is under the special control of the Uzbek consulate and Russian law enforcement agencies and appealed to media representatives to rely only on official sources and refrain from distorting the situation.
Earlier, it was reported that Russia wants to ban migrants from transferring more money abroad than their salary. This will help prevent shadow income, tax evasion, and capital outflow overseas.
