In Russia, law enforcement officers detained five Uzbek citizens who allegedly caused a brawl in the historical center of St. Petersburg, RIA Novosti reports, citing the press service of the regional head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
According to the information, the incident occurred on September 20th in the courtyard of a house on Greek Avenue. On the same day, a 23-year-old Uzbek citizen living in a neighboring house contacted law enforcement and stated that he and his friend had been beaten by unknown individuals due to a conflict in a store.
Later, law enforcement officers detained five suspects of involvement in the incident, including Uzbek citizens, and initiated criminal proceedings against them under Article 213, Part 2 (Hooliganism) of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.
During the investigation, law enforcement officers found out that the conflict was also caused by an Uzbek woman working as a saleswoman at a local store. The female police officer was also held administratively liable for violating the country’s migration laws.
Earlier, it was reported that in Russia, Uzbek migrants fought at a construction site over a dispute over roof repairs. Law enforcement officers detained the suspects, charged them, and arrested them.
