In Russia, a verdict was issued for an Uzbek citizen who escaped from the colony and resisted police during his subsequent detention, TASS reports, citing the press service of the Tambov regional prosecutor’s office.

According to the information, the incident occurred in October 2024 in the Lipetsk region. A man who was part of a group of six prisoners, also representatives of Central Asian countries, escaped from Correctional Colony №2. At the end of October, during operational activities, law enforcement officers discovered citizens resembling those who had escaped from the colony.

The department’s press service reported that during the arrest, the accused resisted a police officer, causing him bodily harm in the form of a closed fracture of the right hand bone, which is assessed as moderate bodily harm. As a result, the court found the man guilty under Article 318, Part 2 of the RF Criminal Code (Application of violence dangerous to life or health against a government official in connection with the performance of his official duties) and sentenced him to 10 years in a maximum-security correctional colony.

Earlier, it was reported that most Uzbekistanis in Russian prisons were convicted of drug crimes. The rest are also imprisoned for sexual assault, murder, grievous bodily harm, theft, and fraud.
