Uzbekistan proposes to imprison pedophiles for life

Dilnoza Azizova, a member of the “Milliy Tiklanish” faction, proposed introducing life imprisonment for persons who commit sexual violence against minors.

The deputy reacted to the situation that occurred in Namangan and stated that “this is not just the disgrace of one pedophile, but the face of the system”, which, according to Dilnoza Azizova, justifies such crimes with light punishments, calling it “educational measures”.

This is not just a crime — it is a rebellion against humanity. The fact that such pedophiles are being sentenced to imprisonment under the pretext of “good behavior” and are freely walking the streets is an indicator of the state’s attitude towards children. The law should be strict not only on paper, but also in life. We have witnessed another proof that there can be no talk of forgiveness, leniency, or “good behavior” for such criminals, — the deputy noted.

A representative of the “Milliy Tiklanish” faction recalled that in 2024, amendments were made to the Criminal Code, according to which the unserved part of the sentence is not commuted to a milder one in cases of defamation of a victim under the age of 18, as well as in cases of violence against a minor to satisfy sexual needs in an unnatural way.

In this regard, the people’s deputy stated that it is time to tighten penalties in legislation to protect children and proposed introducing life imprisonment for any sexual violence against children.

We often say that a child is the future of the nation. But each such case refutes this statement. If we continue to treat such pedophiles lightly, we will destroy the future with our own hands, — the representative of the Legislative Chamber concluded.

It’s worth noting that the incident that caught Dilnoza Azizova’s attention occurred in the Yangiqo’rg’on district of Namangan region. A 38-year-old man came to his uncle’s wedding, where the house owner’s seven-year-old granddaughter was also present. The suspect deceived the child and took her aside and sexually assaulted her.

The injured girl is currently in intensive care. Law enforcement officers found out that the detainee had already served two prison sentences for similar crimes, including rape and sexual assault, and in 2020 he was sentenced to 10 years in prison.
