Uzbekistan can extract hydrocarbons in Afghanistan

The head of the country's Ministry of Energy stated that peace and stability in the Islamic Emirate are important for all neighboring countries.

The Afghan government has granted Uzbek companies a license to conduct geological exploration and extract hydrocarbons in its territory. This was reported by the Minister of Energy, Jurabek Mirzamahmudov, in an interview with the “Uzbekistan 24” TV channel.

On September 14, the parties began work on the development of the Tuti-Maydan gas field.

This will be the first stage. Of course, depending on its results, it is planned to expand the work, to work together in new areas. The project is being implemented as an initiative that will benefit the economies of Uzbekistan and Afghanistan, — noted the head of the Ministry of Energy.

The Minister also stated that stability and infrastructure development in Afghanistan will open access to the world’s oceans for Uzbekistan.

And, of course, one more thing: if there is peace there in the future, if the economy and infrastructure develop, then this territory of Afghanistan will become for us the shortest route to the world ocean as a transit potential. This will allow us to use the potential for further economic growth and logistics even more broadly, — he explained.

According to him, peace and stability in Afghanistan are important not only for Uzbekistan, but also for all neighboring countries. The Minister added that the Afghan people’s sincere attitude towards Uzbekistan is evident in every dialogue.

The Afghan people’s attitude towards Uzbekistan and the Uzbek people is evident in the people’s eyes. And in every negotiation process, they express that they truly feel the love our president shows for the people of Afghanistan, — Mirzamahmudov stated.

Earlier, it was reported that Uzbekistan and Afghanistan had opened a joint representative office to assist local entrepreneurs. The parties hope that this will help expand cooperation in transport, logistics, trade, industry, and other areas.
