Uzbekistan and Japan agreed to allocate more than $2.3 million for equipping blood centers in the country, as well as 3 blood transfusion stations with modern equipment.
According to the information, the parties signed exchange notes of the “Economic and Social Development Program” worth 360 million yen. Within the framework of this agreement, the Japanese government will provide funds free of charge to equip 14 regional blood centers throughout Uzbekistan, as well as 3 blood transfusion stations under republican clinics with modern equipment for blood storage and transportation.
The implementation of the project is planned to meet the country’s growing need for donor blood, as well as to increase the share of blood products produced from blood obtained through voluntary donation. The initiative also aims to expand access to safe blood products for the population of Uzbekistan and contribute to improving the national healthcare system by applying advanced Japanese technologies.
It is noted that within the framework of the “CA+JAD Tokyo Initiative”, established to strengthen mutually beneficial relations with the five Central Asian countries, healthcare and the medical field have been identified as one of the priority areas of cooperation. This cooperation is a practical embodiment of this direction.
Earlier, it was reported that deputies were discussing increasing the reward for blood donors. The draft law was supposed to take effect from the new year.
