Thousands of officials will be laid off in Uzbekistan
The Ministry of Employment and the trade unions will find other jobs for the dismissed employees.

In Uzbekistan, the number of staff positions of the executive branch will be reduced by 2,141 units, according to the presidential decree.
Of these, 1863 are staff positions within the budget, and 278 are staff positions related to extra-budgetary funds. The largest reduction will occur in the Tax Committee (486 units), the Ministry of Water Resources (224 units), the Ministry of Agriculture (200 units), and the Ministry of Employment (163 units).
In addition, 16 deputy positions in committees, agencies, and inspections are being abolished. The Ministry of Poverty Reduction and Employment, together with trade unions, will take measures to facilitate the employment of employees whose staff units are being reduced. In executive authorities, the number of staff units will be reduced to 46,989 people.
Earlier, it was reported that the number of deputy governors in the country was proposed to be set at four. By the end of 2026, a new management procedure will be introduced in 32 districts and cities.
