Thousands of faulty elevators were identified in Tashkent and their safety monitoring was strengthened

Now, lifting devices will be categorized as green, blue, yellow, and red.

A total of 37,103 malfunctions were detected in 9,147 elevators installed in multi-story buildings in Tashkent, according to the Chairman of the Committee on Industrial, Radiation and Nuclear Safety, Olimjon Juraev.

Since the beginning of the year, the territorial administration for Tashkent has conducted 121 control measures, 10,381 preventive measures, and knowledge testing exams for 2,755 employees of enterprises. During these events, 1,145 violations of legal requirements were identified, for which 135 individuals were brought to administrative responsibility.

According to Juraev, on September 8, a crane collapse occurred at a construction site in the Dombirobod City residential complex in the Chilanzar district of Tashkent, resulting in one death and two serious injuries. To prevent similar incidents in the future, the department has taken appropriate measures.

In addition, 45 attractions in 17 culture and recreation parks and entertainment areas in Tashkent do not have technical passports. 23 attractions were not assigned responsible persons for their proper condition and safe operation, and 39 attractions operated without seasonal permits. Their activities were suspended.

According to the instructions, all elevators in the republic, including 9,147 elevators installed in apartment buildings in the capital, were inspected. The identified shortcomings were entered into the “Safe Elevator” platform by the relevant district khokimiyats.

To inform the public about the technical condition of elevators, labels will be placed on the cabins: green — good, blue — partially faulty, yellow — faulty, red — hazardous for use. This technical regulation will come into force on July 1, 2026, and the use of faulty elevators will be prohibited.

In order to protect citizens of the capital from accidents and incidents, as well as to increase their legal literacy, 6,844 elevators that did not pass the technical inspection have already been labeled with the inscription “The elevator did not pass the technical inspection”, — said Juraev.
