The Tashkent metro will become longer
The authorities plan to focus on public transport to combat traffic jams.

The President approved a resolution “On Additional Measures to Improve the Transport Management System and Prevent Traffic Jams” until 2030.
The document provides for increasing the share of public transport users to 60%, accelerating the movement of city buses from the current 18 km/h to 24 km/h. It is also planned to create 150 thousand parking spaces and expand the metro to 103 km.
A Center for the Organization of Road Traffic will also appear in the capital. It will monitor transport, pedestrian, and passenger flows, develop a new transport master plan, and create multi-level parking lots and parking spaces underground metro lines and overpasses.
Additionally, an intelligent transport system is being implemented in Tashkent. It provides for:
- collection of data on transport, pedestrian, and passenger flows using video surveillance equipment and sensors;
- control of traffic lights and automatic adjustment of traffic light regulation phases based on the analysis of traffic and pedestrian flows;
- ensuring priority for the movement of special and public transport in case of deviation from the traffic schedule;
- monitoring of the movement of motor vehicles, including special equipment, as well as monitoring the operation of specialized mechanisms of construction and other equipment;
- identification of areas with increased risk of road traffic accidents and development of recommendations for their prevention.
As a reminder, passengers were stranded between metro stations in Tashkent. The train remained motionless for almost 15 minutes.
