The summer of 2025 was warmer than usual — Uzhydromet

Uzhydromet forecasters reported on the weather for August 2025, as well as on the summer season in general.

The data shows that the month was warm, with the average monthly air temperature being 1-1.7 degrees higher than the long-term average. In most of Uzbekistan, August 2025 ranked among the five warmest Augusts recorded over the years.

During the hottest periods, the air temperature was 3-5 degrees above the climatic norm. However, extremely high temperatures were not observed throughout the month.

The maximum temperature in the central and eastern regions of the republic did not exceed 38-40 degrees, while in the north, south, and desert zones it reached 41-43 degrees. Deviation of the average daily air temperature from the norm.

At the beginning, middle, and very end of the month, brief intervals of respite from the hot weather occurred. During these periods, the maximum air temperature did not exceed 30-33 degrees.

The number of days with air temperatures of 40 degrees Celsius or higher was 1-3 days in the desert zone and 6-8 days in some areas of the extreme south, which is close to or below the long-term average. Rainfall in August was virtually absent across most of Uzbekistan, or only traces of rain were observed.

Only in the Fergana Valley and some mountainous areas of the Tashkent region did short-term rains occur for 1-2 days. The monthly rainfall in these regions ranged from 1 to 7 mm. In parts of the country, wind gusts reached up to 13-18 m/s, with higher gusts of 20-25 m/s in the north and high mountains of the Tashkent region. The wind intensification was accompanied by dust storms.

Summer 2025

With the end of August, the summer season of 2025 concluded. This year, it was 1.5-2 degrees warmer than usual, and across most of Uzbekistan, it ranked third to sixth in the list of the warmest summer seasons ever recorded during meteorological observations.

The entire three months of last summer were warmer than usual, with July being the warmest across all regions of the republic. The deviation of the average monthly temperature from the norm this month ranged from 1.5 to 3 degrees.

The highest air temperature readings for the entire summer of 2025 were also recorded in July. In some parts of the republic, the maximum air temperature in July 2025 was a record for all years of meteorological data or matched the record set in previous years.
