The mayor of Tashkent received a senatorial inquiry due to delays in the construction of the promenade

An alley was supposed to be built on the territory transferred to the khokimiyat, however, the work was not completed, and the builders “put their eyes on” the land.

A Senate inquiry has been sent to Tashkent Mayor Shavkat Umurzakov due to delays in the construction of the promenade, the Senate press service reports.

According to the information, in order to effectively use state-owned facilities and accelerate construction and landscaping work in Tashkent, the Cabinet of Ministers’ order №220-f dated March 22, 2018, was adopted.

In accordance with the order, the building and structure of the former №1 detention center, located at: Yunusabad district, Namangan street, house 1, and its adjacent territory have been transferred to the balance sheet of the khokimiyat. The task was set to build a modern alley with all the necessary infrastructure on this territory.

However, despite the passage of considerable time, the implementation of the tasks outlined in the order has not yet been fully ensured. Currently, these land plots are left unattended, and some construction companies are trying to use the territory for their personal interests, which is causing justified complaints from citizens,” the report says.

The Deputy Chairperson of the Senate Committee on Agrarian, Water Management Issues and Ecology, Sayyora Abdikarimova, sent a senator’s inquiry to Shavkat Umurzakov.

The senator requests the khokim to provide a reasoned explanation regarding the current state of this territory, the reasons for the delay in the implementation of the tasks defined in the order, as well as the practical measures taken to improve the relevant land area and create a modern alley.
