The American Center has opened in Tashkent

The centre is becoming a part of the expanding American Spaces network, which assists local communities in building connections with the United States.

The American University of Technology (AUT) and the US Embassy proudly announce the grand opening of the American Center in Tashkent — a contemporary hub for public engagement, innovation, and educational opportunities accessible to all.

This project highlights the common aim to broaden access to world-class educational resources and foster new opportunities for dialogue and collaboration.

The American Centre in Tashkent exemplifies the US’s firm commitment to strengthening its partnership with Uzbekistan through educational initiatives and lively programmes. As a global leader in science, technology, and innovation, the United States continues to shape the future, and the new American Centre offers Uzbek citizens exclusive access to this vision.

Located within the AUT campus, this modern 150-square-meter center is designed to showcase American achievements and innovations, as well as inspire collaboration, creativity, and curiosity. Space includes:

  • A multifunctional event hall where interactive master classes, lectures by American experts, English language classes, discussion clubs, as well as business and technology training sessions will be held. These programs will be available to students, professionals, teachers, and young people.
  • A flexible zone for activities that is ideal for working in small groups, academic counseling, language learning, and familiarization with educational opportunities in the USA.
  • A cozy lounge area where you can communicate, play board games, or study in an informal setting.

Visitors will be able to utilise modern technologies, including laptops, 3D printers, virtual reality equipment, and high-speed internet, which will enable them to participate in practical training and experimentation. The centre also features a carefully curated collection of books in English on US science, history, and culture, leadership, and entrepreneurship, as well as free access to the extensive digital library of US resources, eLibraryUSA.

The American Centre in Tashkent will serve as a platform for regular programmes that showcase the achievements of the USA. These include English language clubs, digital skills masterclasses, workshops, and entrepreneurship training sessions. All these initiatives aim to prepare a new generation of Uzbek leaders for success in the 21st century and to strengthen cooperation with the United States.

The opening ceremony was attended by US Ambassador Jonathan Henick, Cintana Education founder and chairman Douglas L. Becker, and Cintana Education president Rick Shangrow. They highlighted the importance of this event in strengthening bilateral ties. The programme included a ribbon-cutting ceremony and the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding, which underscores this significant partnership.

The American Center stands as a symbol of the strong partnership between the United States and Uzbekistan. By showcasing American innovations, we are shaping a future founded on cooperation, mutual respect, and the pursuit of excellence, — noted Ambassador Henick.

The American Center, with the support of the US Embassy on the basis of AUT, will offer year-round programs aimed at developing innovation, cooperation, and intercultural dialogue. The implementation of the programs is carried out with the assistance of the American Councils. The American Center in Tashkent is becoming part of the growing American Spaces network, which helps local communities establish connections with the United States.
