The “Adolat” party proposed to strengthen the penalties for traffic violations

Especially strictly, they called for punishing violators in schools and kindergartens.

The head of the Political Council of the “Adolat” party, Robahon Makhmudova, proposed to strengthen the punishment for traffic violations on the roads.

In 2024, 9,364 road accidents were recorded across the country, resulting in 2,2 thousand fatalities and 9 thousand injuries. Every fourth accident ends in a fatal outcome, and an average of 6 people per day die on the roads. To improve the situation on the roads, “Adolat” calls for “strengthening the economic responsibility” of malicious traffic violators.

For them, it is proposed to sharply increase the insurance premiums under the PSAG. The party also recommends, in addition to fines for significantly exceeding the speed limit, depriving drivers of their licenses for a period of 3 to 10 years. Separate strict sanctions will be provided for cases of speeding near schools and kindergartens.

Additionally, it is proposed to double the penalties for fatal traffic accidents, particularly if there are casualties among children. Now, for accidents involving one deceased person, up to 8 years, for two or more — up to 10 years of imprisonment are provided. If the driver committed a fatal accident while intoxicated, “Adolat” urges to deprive him of his driver’s license for life.

To prevent road fatalities, the party recommends implementing the Vision Zero international program in Uzbekistan. Currently, Sweden, Norway, Germany, the Netherlands, Great Britain, Canada, and other countries are participating in the road traffic reorganization project.

As a reminder, a two-year-old child died in a road accident in Khorezm. Two drivers collided, lost control, and hit a boy at a pedestrian crossing.
