Social protection, education, resources: what Uzbekistan has agreed on with Finland

The Presidents signed a Joint Statement following the talks.

As a result of negotiations held in the city of Tashkent, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and President of the Republic of Finland Alexander Stubb signed a Joint declaration.

According to the information, a signing ceremony for a package of bilateral documents was held in the presence of the leaders. In particular, the parties signed an agreement on cooperation in the field of climate change and environmental protection, as well as the development of trade and economic ties.

In addition, the following documents were signed within the framework of the negotiations, providing for:

  • cooperation in the field of mineral extraction;
  • cooperation in geological sciences, geological exploration, the search for mineral resources, groundwater and mining;
  • support for the development of digital transformation, innovation and digital connectivity;
  • cooperation in the field of social protection;
  • cooperation on implementing a digital education platform in the system of preschool and school education;
  • cooperation in the sphere of education, science and innovation;
  • increasing scientific and education potential in the sphere of digitalization and water resources’ management.

Earlier, during the meeting, the leaders of the two countries discussed strengthening cooperation in the political, trade-economic, investment, and humanitarian spheres. Following the Uzbek-Finnish business forum, the parties formed a portfolio of promising joint projects worth over 1 billion euros.
