Since the beginning of 2025, Uzbekistan’s solar and wind power plants have generated 8 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity, which is 22% of the total generation, the press service of the Ministry of Energy reports.

According to the information, such a volume of green energy was recorded as of September 23. It was noted that this will provide electricity to more than 7.3 million households for nine months or 5.5 million households for one year. The Ministry reported that currently, 12 solar and 5 wind power plants with a total capacity of 4.6 thousand megawatts are operating in the country.

This, in turn, allowed for the saving of 2.4 billion cubic meters of natural gas and the prevention of 3.5 million tons of harmful emissions into the atmosphere since the beginning of 2025. In general, including all hydroelectric power plants, the volume of green generation will be 13.2 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity.

Earlier, it was reported that a system for storing electricity will appear in Tashkent. The technology will allow collecting electricity and redirecting it for further use.
