Shavkat Mirziyoyev gave a speech at the SCO summit — the main point

The President outlined the priorities for strengthening multilateral collaboration within the Organisation.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev delivered a speech at the SCO summit in Tianjin, China, according to the presidential press service.

According to the head of state, amid a global crisis of trust, increasing conflicts, and weakening of international institutions, it is the mutual understanding and solidarity among the SCO states that are becoming a crucial factor in maintaining stability in Eurasia.

He also highlighted that the SCO remains a space of equal dialogue, mutual respect, and partnership. Such a format enables participating countries to find a balance of interests and develop joint solutions even in the most challenging situations.

The primary initiatives raised at the meeting:

  • adoption of the SCO Declaration on strengthening multilateral partnership for nuclear security;
  • resumption of the work of the “SCO-Afghanistan” Contact group, one of whose main tasks could be to develop proposals for the development of constructive dialogue and support for socio-economic projects in Afghanistan.
  • creation of the Regional Center for Critical Materials and the SCO Energy Consortium;
  • Considerable opportunities were identified for coordinating efforts to form a “SCO common transport space” and link it to the Belt and Road strategic initiative;
  • launch of the Regional Platform for Climate Change Adaptation and Digital Environmental Solutions;
  • expanding cultural and humanitarian ties: festivals, the SCO University online campus, competitions, and tourism projects.

The Head of State separately addressed the development of trade and economic cooperation, the simplification of trade procedures, the creation of new logistics corridors, and the stimulation of investments.

Following the meeting, a document signing ceremony was held. In particular, the Tianjin Declaration, the SCO development strategy until 2035, and a package of important multilateral documents aimed at further strengthening partnership in various areas of cooperation were adopted.

As a reminder, the president will celebrate Uzbekistan’s Independence Day in China. Shavkat Mirziyoyev will attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit and the Victory Parade commemorating World War II.
