Several cases of forced labor for cotton harvesting have been identified in Uzbekistan
Also, specialists identified 11 cases of violation of legislation, and appropriate measures were taken against the responsible persons.

In Uzbekistan, during the monitoring of employees’ activities during the cotton harvest season, three cases of forced labor of employees were identified, the Senate press service reports.
According to the information, the monitoring was conducted by the National Commission on Combating Human Trafficking and Ensuring Decent Work. As a result of the inspection, specialists noted that in more than 300 cases, official labor relations were established between pickers and employers.
However, in another 11 cases, law enforcement officers identified violations of labor legislation, and in 3 cases, they also identified cases of forced labor. As a result, law enforcement officers took measures against the responsible individuals under administrative articles 49 (Violation of labor and labor protection legislation) and 51 (Violation of employment legislation). The department condemned such cases and reminded that forced labor is absolutely unacceptable not only during the cotton harvest but in all spheres.
Earlier, it was reported that Dilfuza Toshmatova, the deputy khokim of Sariosiyo district for women’s affairs, demanded that mahalla activists bring five people to the field and insulted those who refused, calling them “dishonest”. The National Commission on Combating Human Trafficking and Forced Labor announced the start of an investigation.
