Over a hundred girls under the age of 18 have been married off in Uzbekistan
Marriages between relatives are also being registered.

Since the beginning of 2025, 155 cases of marriage among girls aged 15 to 17 have been identified in Uzbekistan, as well as a number of marriages between relatives, Health Minister Asilbek Khudayarov reported live on the Uzbekistan 24 TV channel.
The department representative said that during the meeting, the president noted that such cases are still being recorded in the country and expressed concern about this fact. Asilbek Khudayarov noted that, according to modern medicine, early marriages and marriages between close relatives significantly increase the risk of having children with disabilities.
The Minister also expressed concern about cases where women are pregnant twice within one calendar year without observing the interval, which also leads to the birth of weak children and their health problems. Additionally, Asilbek Khudayarov stated that authorities plan to conduct extensive educational campaigns in these areas, as well as to review repeated cases of early or related marriages at the mahalla level with subsequent action.
The President emphasized that to prevent such cases and the birth of a healthy generation that will build New Uzbekistan, medical workers in the regions should approach their duties with greater responsibility, interacting with mahallas, women’s committees, religious figures, and khokimiyats, — the Health Minister concluded.
It should be noted that the president emphasized the importance of promoting the benefits of concluding a marriage contract to prevent cases of difficult material situation of spouses, especially children. The country’s leader also reminded of the importance of holding special events for young people and explaining that creating a family is a great responsibility not only to oneself but also to a partner and children.
