Uzbekistan’s ambassador to the US, Furqat Siddiqov, announced the start of negotiations to simplify the visa regime for Uzbek citizens, Daryo reports.
According to him, steps are being taken regularly to facilitate obtaining visas in the US, but achieving results is not easy. What kind of visa regime will be introduced and what conditions will be established depends on America’s domestic policy. Negotiations are ongoing not only for the USA, but also for Brazil, Canada, and other countries.
Furkat Siddiqov noted that today Uzbek-American relations have reached a historic peak. He emphasized the great potential for developing cooperation between the two countries.
Just last year, the presidents of Uzbekistan and the USA held four meetings: two telephone conversations and two face-to-face meetings — in New York and Washington. This made it possible to reach a wide range of agreements. This demonstrates the American government’s interest in the reforms being carried out in Uzbekistan, the country’s potential, and its readiness to cooperate with us, — said the diplomat.
Furqat Siddiqov reported that from the end of January 2026, a visa-free regime for US citizens will be introduced in Uzbekistan for a period of up to 30 days. This is expected to increase the number of tourists from across the ocean by three times.
Earlier, it was reported that the US would impose restrictions on Uzbekistan and the CA countries. Previously, official Tashkent hoped to liberalize visa requirements.
