Since the beginning of 2025, more than 300 accidents involving scooters and mopeds have occurred in Uzbekistan, reports the head of the press service of the Road Safety Service , Zoir Yuldoshev.

According to the information, from January to August 2025, 53 people died in such road accidents in the country, and another 259 received various injuries. The department representative noted that such statistics clearly demonstrate the need for moped and scooter drivers to know the traffic rules and register their vehicles.

Disregarding these rules has led to the premature death of many people, — noted Zoir Yuldoshev.

It should be noted that from October 1, mopeds and scooters will be allowed to operate only after their state registration and with an “A” category driver’s license. The rule will affect vehicles that are in operation and have an engine working volume from 25 cm³ to 50 cm³ inclusive, as well as vehicles with an electric motor power from 0.25 kW to 4 kW inclusive and a design speed from 25 to 50 km/h inclusive.
