Mobile operators in Uzbekistan will be inspected over possible price increases

Specialists want to find out how the costs affect the improvement of service quality and the expansion of the coverage area of cellular communication.

In Uzbekistan, specialists have launched an investigation into mobile operators’ price increases, according to the press service of the Committee for the Development of Competition and Consumer Protection.

According to the information, in November 2024, department employees sent inquiries to mobile operators and are currently studying the provided information on the impact of operators’ expenses on improving service quality and expanding the coverage area of mobile communications.

It is noted that if signs of anti-competitive actions of operators, including coordinated actions, are detected, specialists will conduct an investigation, after which, upon confirmation of the information, strict measures will be taken in accordance with the legislation.

Earlier, it was reported that an organization for monitoring operators and providers would appear in Uzbekistan. The new department will check the quality of telecommunications services for compliance with standards.
