Law enforcement officers fined dozens of Uzbek citizens for animal cruelty
Some citizens were also sentenced to administrative detention.

Since the start of 2025, 34 individuals have been held responsible for animal cruelty in Uzbekistan, with some fined and others sentenced to imprisonment, according to the Supreme Court’s press service.
Experts observed this statistic for the period from January to June 2025. In particular, under Article 111 (cruelty to animals) of the Code of Administrative Offenses, law enforcement officers fined 32 citizens and arrested two more. At the same time, during the period from 2020 to 2024, 397 citizens were held accountable under the relevant article, of which 363 were fined and 34 were arrested.
The department’s press service reminded that violating this article is punishable by a fine of 3 to 5 BRV (1.23 million to 2.60 million soums). If the violation is repeated within a year after the application of administrative penalties, or if it is committed in the presence of a minor, or if it results in the death or injury of animals, a fine of 5 to 10 BRV (2.60 million to 4.12 million soums) or arrest for up to 15 days is possible.
Earlier, it was reported that a law on animal registration had come into force in Uzbekistan. Now all animals kept by citizens and organisations must be registered and marked.
