In Uzbekistan, they may allow the construction of toll roads only if there is a free alternative, the Legislative Chamber’s press service reports.

The deputies reviewed the draft law, which develops the legal basis for creating a network of toll roads. In particular, it is planned to build toll roads only if there is a free alternative, and the cost of travel on such roads will be determined at an economically justified level, taking into account the interests of the population and businesses.

It is planned that this will help create a basis for attracting investments and forming modern road infrastructure in the country. The deputies approved the draft law in the second and third readings. Before the document comes into force, it must be approved by the Senate and signed by the president.

Earlier, the date of construction of toll roads from Tashkent to Samarkand and Andijan was announced. The funds for financing will be allocated by an international institution.
