In Uzbekistan, the procedure for checking cars for compliance with economy standards has been simplified

The changes came into effect on September 20.

The Cabinet of Ministers decree abolished the mandatory requirement for obtaining a separate environmental certificate for light vehicles and trucks.

According to the information, the mandatory procedure is being canceled from September 20, 2025. Now, compliance with environmental standards will be recognized based on a certificate of conformity or approval of the type using documents from the manufacturer or tests in an accredited laboratory. In particular, to identify compliance with the requirements of the environmental class, the applicant will need to provide one of the following documents:

  • legislative acts confirming that in the country-manufacturer of vehicles, the production of wheeled vehicles below the requirements of the “Euro-4” environmental class is prohibited at the time of production of the vehicle;
  • an official letter from the manufacturer or its authorized representative stating that the vehicles are not below the requirements of the “Euro-4” environmental category;
  • other technical documents confirming that the vehicles comply with the requirements of the environmental class of the category not lower than “Euro-4”.

Thus, the import of cars below the “Euro-4” standard will still be prohibited. At the same time, cars equipped with electric motors, except for hybrids, will not be assessed for compliance with environmental requirements.

Earlier, it was reported that new cars were less frequently purchased in Uzbekistan. The decline in sales affected both domestic and foreign cars.
