In Uzbekistan, the best tax-paying mahalla will be selected
Those who make it into the top 100 will receive funding, as well as 75% of infrastructure costs from the state.

On October 14, Shavkat Mirziyoyev is holding a meeting on bringing reforms in the mahalla system to a new level and increasing the effectiveness of work on the ground, the presidential press service reports.
In September, a new system was introduced into the “Open Budget” project. Through it, residents themselves begin actively helping projects in their neighborhoods. If a neighborhood starts repairing roads, water, schools, and kindergartens, the state will cover half of the expenses. Thousands of projects worth 500 billion soums will be allocated for this in 2026.
Furthermore, starting in 2025, the Tax Committee will announce the “Best Mahalla Taxpayer” ranking based on the level of land and property tax payments. In mahallas that have entered the top 100 according to the new system, 75% of infrastructure costs will be covered by the budget. Each of these mahallas will receive an additional 2 billion soums.
Deputies of the Legislative Chamber will be allocated 3 billion soums per person to improve the infrastructure of mahallas in their districts. 10% of fines for sanitary, environmental, and illegal construction violations will be allocated to neighborhood budgets. Starting from 2026, 200 billion soums will be allocated annually to neighborhood budgets.
Out of the five mentioned sources, we are allocating an additional 8.5 trillion soums for 2,000 mahallas for 2026, — the president said.
Recall that offices for police chiefs and prosecutors will appear in some mahallas of Uzbekistan. Law enforcement officers will have to start and end their workday there and regularly study information about preventive work and offenders.
