In Uzbekistan, it will be prohibited to remove citizens without their consent

Also, the authorities plan to ban the installation of surveillance cameras in a number of private places.

In Uzbekistan, it is planned to prohibit filming of citizens without their consent, as well as to establish a number of restrictions on the installation of video cameras, the press service of the Legislative Chamber reports.

According to the information, the deputies reviewed the draft law, which provides for the mandatory obtaining of consent for filming and using the citizen’s image. In addition, the document defines children as independent subjects of law when recording and using images.

In this regard, the authorities identified a number of cases where filming and the use of images will be permitted, and also approved requirements to ensure the inviolability of private life during video surveillance. Specifically, when filming and using materials from minors under sixteen years of age, consent must be given by one of the child’s parents or guardians.

In addition, the document approved the places where video cameras cannot be installed. It is noted that the list includes toilets and changing rooms, and also established a norm according to which when installing video surveillance systems in public places, a warning sign must be placed on the territory. At the same time, it should be installed in a visible place, and the information on it should be formulated in an accessible form.

It is planned that the new norms will contribute to the further strengthening of citizens’ constitutional rights to privacy and the guarantee of human rights to their image. The deputies adopted the draft law, which will be approved by the Senate and signed by the president before it comes into force.

Earlier, it was reported that Uzbeks would be banned from using cars older than 50 years. Cars will be deregistered without any assistance program for buying a new car.
