In Tashkent, a former judge was sentenced to seven years in prison for stealing a car while intoxicated

Earlier, the High Judicial Council decided to dismiss a man for violating the requirements of the Code of Judicial Ethics.

In Tashkent, a verdict was issued against a former judge of the Mirobod district, who was accused of stealing a car while intoxicated. This was reported by NOVA24 by the press secretary of the Supreme Court Aziz Abidov.

Information about the incident appeared on social media on April 21. The man, who served as a judge of the Mirobod District Criminal Court, was suspected of stealing a car while intoxicated. Following this, the High Judicial Council conducted an official investigation based on the Code of Judicial Ethics and issued a conclusion, which was reviewed by the Qualification Board of Judges of the Tashkent Courts.

According to the decision, the judge was dismissed for violating the requirements of the Code of Judicial Ethics. The man terminated his authority early. In addition, the High Judicial Council reported that they also reviewed the actions of other judges allegedly involved in the incident.

As a result, on September 11, the Criminal Cases Board of the Supreme Court found the 44-year-old man guilty under Articles 219 (Resistance to a representative of authority or a person performing a civic duty) and 267 (Theft of a vehicle) and sentenced him to 7 years in prison.

Earlier, it was reported that a judge’s assistant was caught taking a $300 bribe in Jizzakh. The man promised his acquaintance that he would help him speed up his divorce from his husband and get part of his property.
