In Tashkent, 16 more metro ticket offices will be closed

Instead, devices will be installed that will issue QR-code tickets.

In Tashkent, to ensure transparency of the payment system and stimulate electronic payments, ticket offices at all 14 stations of the capital’s overground ring line will be closed from December 9, the press service of the metropolitan reported.

According to the information, cashiers will be closed at the “Pakhtakor” and “Alisher Navoi” stations, where cash payment indicators remain low. Instead of cash desks, new modern information kiosks — QR-code ticket dispensers — will be installed at the specified stations.

It is noted that the advantages of info kiosks are:

  • reduction of cash turnover, transparency and security of payments;
  • acceleration of the ticket purchase process, reduction of queues, saving passengers’ time;
  • instead, devices will be installed that will issue QR-code tickets.

Earlier, it was reported that the Tashkent metro would become longer. The authorities plan to focus on public transport to combat traffic jams.
