Hundreds of people convicted of domestic violence in Uzbekistan
Approximately 50 lawsuits have been filed in courts for divorce due to domestic violence.

In Uzbekistan, nearly 298 people have been convicted of domestic violence since 2025, according to the Criminal Cases Board of the Tashkent City Court.
During the 8 months of this year, 298 people were convicted under Article 126-1 of the Criminal Code (Family (Domestic) Violence), of which 81 were sentenced to imprisonment. In 2024 alone, the number of such criminals was 472, of which 150 received real sentences.
Under Article 59-2 of the Code of Administrative Offenses (Family (Domestic) Violence), 7,624 people have been held administratively liable since the beginning of the year, and 16,524 in 2024. Of these, 6,585 people were sent to administrative detention.
During the specified period, 1,450 people were convicted under Article 41-1 (Sexual harassment). Of these, 969 were sentenced to administrative arrest, and 481 received fines. During the same period last year, this figure was 1,854 people.
Since the beginning of the year, 47 claims for divorce due to domestic violence have been filed with civil courts, of which 37 have been satisfied.
Earlier, it was reported that Uzbekistan wants to ban the sale of weapons to family tyrants. The authorities also plan to establish a procedure under which internal affairs officers will temporarily seize weapons from individuals who have committed violence against children.
