How much will Uzbeks pay to import iPhone 17?

The Customs Committee explained the customs payment procedures for importing phones for personal use using the new iPhone 17 as an example.

According to Cabinet of Ministers Resolution No. 244 of April 19, 2025, the following rates of duty-free import of goods by individuals for personal needs have been established:

• upon arrival in the country by plane — 1000 dollars;
• by rail and river transport — 500 dollars;
• through road and pedestrian checkpoints — 300 dollars.

If the customs value of the mobile device exceeds the established limit, a single customs payment of 30% is charged for the excess part.

Also, during the processing of the customs receipt order, a customs clearance fee of 25% of the basic calculated value is charged, which is currently 103 thousand soums.

It is noted that the customs value of the device is determined based on submitted checks, receipts, or other commercial documents. If they are unavailable or inaccurate, customs authorities independently determine the cost using an electronic database and alternative sources – including manufacturers’ official websites, price lists, and catalogs.

Experts cited an example based on the iPhone 17. If the device is imported without supporting documents, its cost will be determined based on the prices indicated on Apple’s official website in the country from which the citizen arrived (USA, UAE, South Korea, and China). At the same time, the fee will be charged on almost all iPhone 17 models, except for the base model with a minimum memory capacity – iPhone 17 256 GB.

The cost of the device depends on the prices in the country of purchase and will be taken into account during customs clearance. The Customs Committee promised to periodically publish reference information on the customs value of the iPhone 17 by countries from which these devices are most commonly imported.
