For the first time in Uzbekistan, a seven-month-old baby’s liver was transplanted, the press service of the regional children’s national medical center reports.
The operation was performed at the National Children’s Medical Center. The donor was the boy’s mother. Before the surgical intervention, the woman and the child underwent all necessary examinations. The doctors transplanted two segments of the baby’s liver. Currently, the baby’s mother has been discharged, the baby’s condition is stable, and he is also being prepared for discharge.
It should be noted that such operations in children under one year of age are among the most complex and are performed in only a few countries of the world, — the report says.
Recall that Uzbekistan approved the procedure for permitting transplantation. In some cases, the operation will be refused.
