Erkin Gadoyev sent a senator’s inquiry to the Ministry of Transport regarding traffic congestion in Tashkent

The senator inquired about the measures being taken to eliminate the problem.

The Chairman of the Senate Committee on Budget and Economic Issues, Erkin Gadoyev, sent a senator’s inquiry to the Ministry of Transport regarding the ongoing traffic jams in Tashkent, which negatively affect people’s lives, asking what measures are being taken to address the problem.

The committee noted that with the start of the academic year, the traffic flow in the capital has significantly increased. It was also emphasized that the traffic jams that occur on the roads of the capital have a serious impact on the daily lives of citizens.

Sometimes traffic congestion reaches the maximum level — 10 points on the traffic scale, which leads to a senseless loss of time for thousands of citizens who have come to the capital for work, study, or various business, — the message says.

According to the committee, about 1 million people visit Tashkent daily, of which 275 thousand come from the Tashkent region. Due to this, thousands of cars from adjacent districts of the region have been entering the capital since morning to return by evening, which also increases traffic congestion in the capital.

In the senatorial inquiry, the deputies asked the Ministry of Transport to clarify what measures are being taken to reduce this problem, as well as detailed information on the current state of the “Intellectual Transport” system, the progress of public transport integration into a single agglomeration system, as well as the implementation of presidential instructions and the reasons for possible delays in their implementation.

Earlier, the president drove around Tashkent without a carriage and got into a traffic jam. After the trip, Shavkat Mirziyoyev called the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and invited him to personally see the road problems.
