Azim Akhmedkhajaev emphasized that residents living near the future LPNPP are not planning to move.

The head of Uzatom Azim Akhmedkhajaev spoke on the sidelines of the international forum World Nuclear Week under the auspices of Rosatom about the reaction of Jizzakh residents to the construction of a small nuclear power plant. This was reported by NOVA24 correspondent.
The company head said that residents themselves are showing interest and involvement in the process, despite the global trend of skeptical attitude towards such stations.
Our local population asks: When? When are you starting already? And now he’s helping in every way to start, the elders come to the platform, they’re interested. Because they understand that this project has a multiplier effect, a huge amount of development will come to the region and the region as a whole. Development in all directions, because this station will become a trigger for other industries.
People understand that to maintain this station, it is necessary to create a huge cluster of household services. Social facilities will be built, infrastructure facilities will be built. And the life in the region, the quality of life in the region will increase significantly, — the head of Uzatom.
According to Azim Akhmedkhajaev, local residents have no desire to leave their native land due to the construction of the nuclear power plant.
They want to stay and be participants in this development. They want to be pioneers in this direction, because with their example, they will be able to show other regions that in reality, one can live well, live at a high cultural level, and at the same time participate in creative processes and be a part of such a history of the region’s development, — the specialist concluded.
Pavel Bezrukov, Director of the Nuclear Power Plant Construction Project in Uzbekistan at Atomstroyeksport JSC, said that in the near future, earthworks will begin at the ASMM construction site, and the relevant infrastructure is being built in parallel.
Earlier, it was reported that the first concrete for a small nuclear power plant in Uzbekistan would be poured in the spring of 2026.
