Details of the mass poisoning of children in the Tashkent region were revealed

More than 100 specialists and professors from the capital have been sent to help.

On September 27, a representative of the Sanitary and Epidemiological Welfare and Public Health Committee, Nurmat Otabekov, commented on the mass poisoning of children in the Tashkent region.

According to the latest data, 694 children remain hospitalized, with 421 planned to be discharged on September 27th. A total of 13 children are in moderate condition, with the rest experiencing mild poisoning. A total of 1922 children were admitted to hospitals, but 959 of them had no confirmed diagnosis.

More than 100 specialists, professors, and scientists from 17 medical institutions in Tashkent were involved in providing qualified assistance. A special headquarters has been established under the Ministry of Health. The children’s diagnosis was announced: acute gastroenteritis, usually caused by rotaviruses or E. coli. Earlier, it was reported that the cause of the poisoning could be Shark Milk’s low-quality kefir, which was supplied to kindergartens in the region.

The disease is not classified as severe or life-threatening and usually proceeds without complications. Children are recovering quickly. The headquarters under the ministry discusses the progress of treatment and preventive measures in the cities and districts of the region every three hours via videoconference, providing necessary recommendations, — Nurmat Otabekov.

Children continue treatment in seven hospitals in the Tashkent region, while poisoning affected kindergartens in Olmaliq, Nurafshon, Bekabad, Akkurgan, Buka, Pskent, and Kuyichirchik districts.

The SES continues to study samples of products consumed by children. The final cause of the mass poisoning will be announced later. An additional reserve of necessary medicines has been formed in hospitals.

The health of all children is under state control, the situation is stabilizing, and those responsible will be held legally accountable, — said Nurmat Otabekov.

It’s worth noting that the first reports of mass poisoning appeared on the night of September 25th, with eyewitnesses reporting hospitals overflowing with children.

As a reminder, the “Adolat” party called on the Prosecutor General’s Office to punish those responsible for poisoning children in the Tashkent region. The deputies took the situation under parliamentary control.
